Audition

We chose to do an audition for our main character, we already had an idea of who we was going to use but wanted to make sure he could mime properly.

Lewis Hodson
Lewis does drama at A Level and is very good. He is reliable and plays the character very well. We asked him to do the opening part of our music video and even though he didn't have much time to practise he took on the role as we would like it. He learnt the lines fairly quickly and he isn't afraid of being in front of the camera.

Target audience interviews and focus group

Our target audience interviews are with two members of our target audience, one at the younger end and another at the older end.

As a group we did a focus group which involved two people our age and someone in our older target audience to see what our target audience is looking for in a music video.

We found that they like our genre but they hated seeing naked people. They also said that they like the music to be upbeat and the music video to show people partying and having a good time because it makes you feel better and want to start dancing. In a Madness video they like to see old skool partying, humour - people being silly because they said "I think that is what the band is about". They want the music video to have a storyline rather than just performance based. Billie said that "disjucture works well when it is done properly", they said that having a storyline allows you to relate to the lyrics.

We pitched our idea of having different themes in different rooms, Billie said: "if different themes are done properly then it would look quite good but if not then it would be messy". Vanessa and Sally both chose one theme. They liked the idea of having different eras in different rooms and if we could pull off the themes of Alice in Wonderland etc. then it will look really good.
